If I could be stranded on a desert island with only three things, they’d be: my family, Johnny Depp, and a boat to get off the island.
The people I trust most are: my parents
One thing I can’t live without is: music
If I wasn’t an actor/actress, I’d like to be a fashion magazine editor
One thing I would never do is: give up on my dreams
One thing I really want to do is: become fluent in Spanish
One thing that really scares me is: ice cream trucks
The craziest thing I’ve done is: ziplining in Canada over glacial rapids.
The best thing I have done for someone else is: share a warm smile and a random act of kindness everyday!
Dream: What is the craziest fan encounter that has happened since SIU started?
Caroline: Well first of all I have the best fans ever! They are always so supportive of me and the character I play and I get so excited when I get to meet my fans when I’m out and about! Probaly the strangest encounter so far was when I was at Disney World and got swarmed by all my fans! There was this girl and she touched my hand and yelled out “OMG you have the softest hands ever!!” After that I had like a hundred people wanting to touch my hands! Crazy!
Dream: Tell us about the music that you are working on!
Caroline: I’m very excited about my music and even more excited for all my fans to get to hear it! I always say that music is what feelings sound like and it’s another fun way to express myself. As a dancer and singer I have a unique perspective on music because I know that you want a song that is fun to sing to but also fun to dance to with your friends. I’m trying to put that into my music so that all my fans can sing and dance along! I’ve been working with Bella Thorne and Zendaya and also recording on my own!
Dream: Are you like Tinka in any ways?
Caroline: Tinka is like my alter ego and we are different in a lot of ways. My favorite part about playing a character like Tinka is that I really get a chance to act by using an accent, dressing differently, and acting different. I think the one thing Tinka and I have in common is our confident attitude and love for sparkles!
Dream: Would you wear any of Tinka’s crazy outfits?
Caroline: Yes. All of Tinka’s clothing is custom made and one of a kind. I seriously think I might raid her closet because she has the coolest accessories and a super unique shoe collection. Tinka’s style is very Euro-fashion forward and she is not afraid to take risks. Tinka is a fierce fashionista! Back in her home country I would say that Tinka would be a trendsetter. I love wearing Tinka’s clothes because they are all the clothes that I wanted to dress up in when I was a little girl and now I get to do that! I feel like a superstar fashionista when I wear her clothes!
Dream: What is the difference between Tinka’s style and Caroline’s style?
Caroline: Tinka is like my alter ego. We are different in a lot of ways and a lot of the crazy things I have wanted to do or wanted to wear I get to express through the character of Tinka. My style is constantly changing and evolving; just like Tinka’s. Right now I am really into retro style and inspired by people like Audrey Hepburn, Bridget Bardot, and Grace Kelly. But Tinka and I both have fabulous style and like to have a lot of pink and sparkles in our outfits! I have an extensive collection of sparkly dresses and shoes at home just like Tinka! I even had a set of acrylic nails custom designed for the Tinka character and I often wear them in real life because they are so fierce!
Dream: What do you do with the cast during downtime on set?
Caroline: The Shake It Up set is so much fun because there is always something going on and we are a very tight knit cast! Whenever we have downtime we usually practice cool new dance moves together and at lunch we have dance parties in each others dressing rooms!
Dream: What has been the most fun episode to shoot from the first season?
Caroline: Every episode is fun to film because there is always something different going on and all the storylines are so funny and so much fun to act out. I really enjoyed shooting the episode where we meet the Hessenheffers’ parents because everything was kicked up a notch. We had singing, dancing, and a lot more sparkles! I also really liked filming “Add It Up” where Ty and Tinka go on a date because Roshon is such a great dancer!
Dream: Do your classmates treat you differently at school now that you are on TV?
Caroline: One of the decisions I made early on, with the help of my parents, was to stay in a regular high school setting because education is really important to me. When im filming I take online classes through my high school and communicate with my teachers and when im not filming, traveling, or I have a day off I go back to the high school campus. Its so much fun because I have a locker, go to football games and pep rallies! For the most part everybody treats me pretty cool but it is not unusual for me to have someone freak out when they meet me or want to take a picture with me while we are doing our chemistry lab!
Dream: Are there any older Disney starts that you want to model your career after?
Caroline: I really admire Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale. Both are not only great people but great actresses who really know their craft and I admire how their careers have grown. Both of them have a really great relationship with their fans and have been able to cross over into movies, music, and other TV series. They also own their own production companies and I would love to have a career as diverse and incredible as theirs.
Dream: Who is your biggest inspiration?
Caroline: There are so many people, influences, and artists that influence me in so many ways. My biggest inspiration to achieve things is probably anyone who has ever told me I couldn’t do something, I wasn’t good enough, or anybody who didn’t believe in me or my dreams. This inspires me to always believe in myself and know that anything is possible.
Dream: Can you confirm any facebook, twitter, or youtube accounts?
Caroline: Yes! My Twitter is @4CastisSunshine or www.twitter.com/4castissunshine . I always post fun pics, quotes, and tweets on my twitter and I love to talk to my fans! I have lots of fan pages that have been created for me on Facebook but I do not have an official one or a personal account.
Dream: What are your plans this summer?
Caroline: This summer we will be filming Season 2 of “Shake It Up” and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ll also be focusing on recording and doing some philanthropy work with the Thirst Project to help bring clean water to people around the world. And of course I will be spending time with my family, friends, and chilling at the beach!
Dream: What do you like to do when you are not filming?
Caroline: When I’m not filming I am usually at school! But I love hanging out with my friends, going to the beach, shopping, traveling, volunteering, photography and cooking. I also really love reading and finding inspirational quotes that I post on my wall in my room. I’m also in the process of taking my collection of photos and posting them in a collage on a wall in my room so that wherever I look I see the faces of all my family and friends!
Dream: Are you still in touch with any of your Marmaduke costars?
Caroline: Yes! On Marmaduke I had the amazing opportunity to work with the talented Judy Greer, William H. Macy and the Golden Globe and Emmy nominated actor Lee Pace. Marmaduke was my first big film and I learned so much from these actors and we still keep in touch! I’m also still close with my set teacher from the movie and the casting director who cast me! I do miss the dogs though.
Dream: If you could choose anybody to guess star on SIU, who would it be?
Caroline: I would love to have Ashley Tisdale guest star as Tinka’s cousin or something and Reese Witherspoon is my role model so it would be a dream come true to have her on “Shake It Up”!
Dream: What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about Child Actors?
Caroline: I think people would be surprised at how normal a lot of child actors are. We are still just a bunch of teens and tweens and as my dad always says, “put our pants on one leg at a time.”
